Tumblr has enough users and corporations using the service that it is time that they open up new features for Pro users.
It is a simple idea that can help generate revenue or at least offset the operating costs that are taking on. As of November 2012 it was the 9th most popular site in the world. That means operating costs must be expensive. All of those photos and gifs are eating up a lot of server space and bandwidth.
For a simple $5 a month Tumblr Pro could offer features including :
- Tag Analytics : Which tags are bringing you the most users
- Top 10 Posts : Which of your posts are being favorited and reblogged the most
- Access to a more advanced mobile app which allows better customization of your blog and create new Tumblr’s on the go
- Support for more SEO friendly URLs rather than manually editing each one before you submit
There are so many more features that would help growth and enable users to take more control of what content is working for their audience. I would suggest Tumblr do something soon before another service comes along and does it better.
